So no one had any advice for the OP.
I will give it a try. You could get rid of your paid vacation and raise your daily fees to incorporate the income you would have made over your holidays.
Or, I require two weeks notice of termination or two full weeks fees in lieu of notice. If in those two weeks they have days booked off or I have days booked off, or if they miss days for illness etc. it doesn't matter two full weeks fees are still do regardless of attendance or schedule. Do you have something similar and are these parents that are leaving before your holidays giving you notice? If they have to pay two weeks fees in lieu of notice regardless, then it would take their incentive for leaving to not pay for your holidays away? I don't know if that's coming across clearly or not?
Sorry re-read and do see there was some advice sprinkled through out the posts:)
i agree i would raise your daily/weekly/monthly rate and then take the extra money each payday and put it in a separate acct and use it for your holidays and then take your holidays unpaid ...they will never know the difference .....i am paid for the full 52 weeks of the year which includes all stats, 5 personal days and 3 weeks vacation....the only time i am not paid is if i close due to my sickness. I let me families know in feb when i will be taking my holidays and if anyone (and there has been a few families) leaves to avoid paying my holidays then Im actually happy because thats not the kind of family i want anyway. its one of the hazards of the job
My daycare has all stat holidays, one professional development day, and about 1.5 weeks holidays at Christmas which we (clients) are required to pay for. I totally get it...my husband did not. I found that those people who work on salary understand and those paid hourly don't. So that may reflect regionally depending on what people in your area do for work.
Everyone docked me for the two days I took off when my MOTHER died....Get paid vacation? NEVER going to happen! But then again...come January 2016, ya never know! I smell a new CONTRACT coming
That sounds so harsh of them to dock your pay when you were so needing extra support when your Mother died
