That's one of the questions you don't ask a kid, as it implies that they have a choice in the matter, which they do not. It's not fair to the kid, as they will assume that they get to say home if they say no, and it's not fair to you to dump an upset child first thing in the morning.Quote:

I just responded with a "tough, this isn't a choice, so come in please", and I took him by his hand and gently brought him inside. Its an attention thing that I know better than to buy into and his mother hasn't said anything in response to this but if any parent did, I'd politly tell them that they would be doing both of themselves a favour by discouraging the notion that this is even a choice. I have had a few kids who refuse to go home at the end of the day, even after the parent say's "ok, I'm leaving. You will have to stay here." For some parents, it hurts to know that after 8+ hours away from mom/dad, their child would rather stay with their dcp instead of rushing into their arms, begging to get away from the dcp LOL Of course it's a good sign that your child loves their dc but at the same time, I can see why some parents are hurt by this.
I had a new one last night!
Dcb has been very defiant lately, was communicated with parents, had a good day yesterday so I told dcd. His response was
Dcd - "oh good!"
(To dcb) "because you know what happens when you say no, right? (Dcb doesn't respond) right?"
(To me) "he gets tickled"
