Ever been tempted to count how many times a day your name is said?

Sometimes I just want to hide in a corner if I hear my name said one more time!!!!!:eek: Every once in a while I am tempted to count how many times in one day my name is called out, whether it be for attention or a request for help, some days I feel if I here my name called from every corner of the house by every child just one more time I will burst. This is a prime example of why nap time is crucial to this job.....even 45 minutes per day of no yelling of my name or call for me to save the day! Will help save my sanity.

Ever play the game where you just say their name back.... "suzzy" " johnny " "suzzy" " johnny " "suzzy" " johnny " "suzzy" " johnny " "suzzy" " johnny " "suzzy" " johnny " "suzzy" " johnny " "suzzy" " johnny " "suzzy" " johnny " AAAAHHHHHH!!!!!! I never win that game.

AHah! here there is only one that says my name, the other one call me mom..... Ive tried so meany times to explane that i'm not their mommy..... I kinda gave up! aahah!

I have the sweetest dcg. She is almost 2, sensitive and doesn't speak very much. What she does say is my name over and over to soothe herself. She says it in the most loving way I can't help but feel flattered she likes me so much however............. ..it does drive me crazy too.

I HEAR YOU SISTA! It feels like a million times. "Why can't you go play and stop calling me name!" I'm considering a name change and i'm not telling that kid what my new name is! lol'

ha ha too funny zoey! I have one that walks up to me says my name and when I say "what?" he stares at me blankly, trying to think of something to say....he doesn't want anything just wants my attention. sometimes after me asking a second "what do you need?" he'll say...."hi!" aaaaahhhh! so glad tomorrow is friday!

oh yes! And my own kids are just as bad! So, it's all day and all evening! I even tried telling them at one point that if I'm right there beside them, they could just start talking or asking.....skip the calling me part, since it's pretty obvious they're talking to me. This is what I got: :huh: Then more of my name over and over and over and over and over.

So thankful that this forum shows me I'm not the only one feeling all the things I'm feeling!

I used to have a p/t boy that was a "repeater".

Boy: Wha you makin for lunsh?
Me: Some spaghetti!
Boy: Cai have some?
Me: Of course, it's for all of us.
Boy: Wha you makin us for lunsh?
Me. Some spaghetti.
Boy: Cai have some too?

And so on.... All. Day. Long.

I prefer the children who call me by name than the boy who just says 'look at me' all day. He truly has no concept that there are other people in the world. I get called Mom and Grandma a lot too since my grandson was in the daycare for the first 3 years of my business and still comes here occasionally.

mom in alberta: that's a huge part of the issue, I too have a "repeater" but he studders too...so its more like: "wawawawawawa watcha doin?" then a minute later, he comes back in kitchen, "wawawawawa watcha doin?" it's adorable most days and I will scoop him up and give a big hug and kiss, but some days (like today) I wanted to pick him up and choke him!!!!!!! ha ha ;)

I have gone through the being called "mom" it really is quite endearing....nice to know they rank me with that important person in their life....until, that person hears it....then doesn't feel so great, makes me feel like a jerk. Mom's face kind of dropped a little, I just looked at the boy and said, "silly, there's Mumma" :o

My own kids drive me nuts with this...only my 2 and 4 year old have learned from my teenager to call me "Mom"...no more "mama" or "mummy"...just "Mooommmm" like a teenager. So I hear about 14 million times per day "Mom mom mom mom mom".
Or there's mealtimes, when I feel like my head will spin off somedays..I have one saying over and over and over "I want some milk please" and another saying "I dropped my spoon" and a third saying "I don't like green beans"...etc etc...it's like a chorus and they all just keep repeating and repeating and repeating! Some days I feel like laughing...other days I feel like screaming!

lunch time is by far my least favorite time of day for most days, due to the complete chaos, I feel like i need about 10 more arms to please all the little, "i wants and I needs" ;)

For every meal I get all the food on their plates and drinks at the table and starting to cool down then I call the children for 'lunchtime', etc. and they come at me like a stampede. But at least all the running around and dishing out is done. Now I find I can actually read them a book while they eat or do a little funny puppet show or something. Then I'm still available to get them seconds or anything else they may need but it's a lot less stressful for me. Also, I eat my lunch after they are tucked into bed and I can go on my computer while I eat. I got into that habit years ago when I had the boy in care who ate with his mouth open. Yuck! Couldn't stand it!

Hahaha this thread is hilarious!!! I just accepted a new dcb who also is a question repeater. Oh how my evening wine consumption has increased!! LOL

Oh, my "repeater" was a bit of a stutter-er too... Hmmm. Wonder if it's an attempt to make sure the communication is clear or something?

I have a re-assure-er :laugh:
He's the same one who I think has high anxiety.....so on our way home from playgroup he'll "tell" me about 10 times over "Mamma_Mia....fi rst we eat lunch then we nap" and I reply "yes..that's right". After lunch he says "Mamma_Mia.....a fter nap we go to the bus stop" etc. over and over and over. Kid I KNOW what my day consists of....SHUT UP!

Yep, I have one of those too! Sweetest kid ever, but definitely high on the anxiety side...always reassuring herself throughout the day. "Mommy's gonna pick me up", "We'll go to the bus, then we'll come back and I'll put my slippers on, then we'll have a snack" etc etc...and if I don't respond...repeat repeat repeat, actually even if I do respond...repeat repeat repeat. I just nod and smile and say "yes, of course"...to which she responds "of course", nodding sagely.

LOL on the reassurance repeaters ~ I admit I make those kids a flip book when I come across them because the sound of pages flipping is way less annoying that verbally walking through the routine every 20 minutes and having something to see actually seems to make them 'need to do it less' for whatever reason.

Hahaha, soon as I read the title I knew I was reading this one!!! I'am in stitches right now!!!:laugh: I can relate to all of these! I find it the worst when I step into the bathroom, like really?? I'am kinda busy here!!! I tell them to take a number, it usually confuses them into silence for maybe 10sec!

ahh brings back so many frustrating memories! I have a part time boy (he is now five years old) but I have been taking care of him since he was two. He went through this really annoying stage where he would call my name unconsciously, over and over again while he was playing. This would go on ALL DAY! He would call me, but when i answered him or responded to my name, he would look at me blankly because he didn't want anything. Finally, to save my sanity, I had to learn to ignore him calling my name. I learned to tell the difference between him chanting my name like some sort of mantra, and when he really wanted something. Thank god he outgrew it when he turned four!
