Hi everyone so I charge for stat holidays but was curious how many people charge for Easter Monday? Seeing as it is not a stat.
I charge for it and I'm closed. If you put it in the contract and they agree to it, then I don't see a problem with it.
I am also closed and charge for it. If they ask I tell them I follow the school's schedule.
I'm closed too but I feel bad charging when it really isn't a stat holiday. Should I be charging? And what if you have a new client starting that week do you charge them?
I am closed and I charge for it. I have all my stats listed in my contract so there is no confusion over which days I take as paid closures. I even added Christmas eve in there although it is definitely not a stat. As long as parents know when they sign the contract and agree to it, you can close with pay anytime you want.
I'm closed too and my parents pay. I think that is not unusual. We work a lot of hours and deserve some time off. My parents and very appreciative of the work I do and always offering me extra paid time off :-)
I am closed with pay also. I am so looking forward to that four day weekend already. lol
It is in my contract as a paid closure/stat and parents get reminded about 4 weeks beforehand that it is a closed/paid day.
If I had a parent start that week then I would consider the start date on the Tuesday and not charge for that first year since the child isn't officially in care or expected to attend yet on that Easter Monday.
I charge for it and I am closed.
I am closed Easter Monday but I do not charge for it as it's not a stat.
You can still charge for it next time you do contract updates. I just list all the stats or civic holidays along with those other "iffy" days like Easter Monday and simply state...........the following days the daycare will be closed and payment will be expected.
I changed my Stat Days to Closed Paid Days in my contract because I added Easter Monday and Christmas Eve Day a few years ago. They aren't stats. But you have to remember that the federal government doesn't get Family Day as a stat and they do get Remembrance Day. I have one of those Moms in my daycare. I'm open Remembrance Day.
Put the closed paid days in your contracts and parents will know they have to book those days off with their employers every year if they don't normally get them off. Done!
I explain to parents that they will be paying full weekly fees all year long no matter if there are holidays of any kind, sick or missed days for any reason except when I am closed for vacation. Simple!
Thanks Judy :) I didn't know I could charge for it because it isn't considered a stat. When I update my contract I am going to add it in to the paid days :)
WOW! I am open. That is the same as closing for a pd day IMO!!!
I am only closed for holidays that non-government employees get.
You can close for any day you want to close for and YOU decide if it is with or without pay. As long as it is clearly laid out in your contract and parents are aware of it, you can do whatever you want. It is YOUR business and you can do what you want as long as you have clients who agree to it by signing your contract. I take Easter Monday and Family Day and Rememberance Day as well as Christmas Eve plus all the other actual stats...they are not all stats...it doesn't matter because it is clearly laid out in my contract and parents read and sign this. They have never complained!
I am SO closed and they SO pay. I need that 4 days as I didnt take vaca during march break since I kept my 3 vaca weeks for the summer.
As the ladies say, YOU decide what YOU want in your contract. Like I take 3 weeks vaca paid... some take 2, some take 1 paid 2 unpaid, some close for Xmas, some dont, some have sick days paid.. I dont. Its all according to you. I dont have to obey by any laws, Iycare, comparing your contract to others and so...
I dont have to obey by any laws, I am a PRIVATE daycare. If parents agree at signature, then its all good. If they dont agree, they dont sign in the first place.
Thanks everyone. I am closed but will not be charging. I'll keep it in mind for next year if I want to change my contract.
