Great day UNTIL....

2 1/2 dcb very quietly during nap time took off his diaper full of poop and smeared it ALL OVER my daycare carpeted room floor. OMG....furious much?!? I sternly told him not to move from his cot, and left him for a few minutes until I could fathom which pile of shit to deal with first and how to maneuver around it all.

It's not like this has never happened before with another child, and I get that kids do these things, but seriously, Burber frickin carpet really doesn't wet vac easily. I guess today is the day that' a glass or two of wine will be a mandatory conclusion to an evening of being up to my elbows in poop!! Happy Days lol

And none of the "I told you so's" from you ladies who swear against carpeted floor, for this exact reason ;)

Oh no!!! That really sucks! And it's happened before?!? In my 6.5 years of childcare I have never seen that....and I hope I don't!! haha.

I hope it cleans up okay for you and you enjoy your wine tonight! Maybe a video monitor would be beneficial?

After reading your post I logged into another forum and I was about to write down ArtsandCRAP instead of Artsandcrafts lol... I couldn't shake off the mental image. I read that happening to other providers, but still I cannot stop thinking how disgusting that is. Sorry you are going through this. Hugs. I think I would need more than a couple of drinks after that.

Not only does that take the prize for the "shittiest day award" it "stinks" as well. LOL Hope that things got cleaned up - I think dinner tonight should involve take out and LOTS of wine. (and a long, hot soapy shower to relax!)

I think the parents should ante up a little money to get your carpet professionally cleaned. Poor you! I would consider asking the parents to put their child in a snappy tee at least for nap time. Good luck and hope the wine helped

It's not even out yet ffs. I have wet vacced it and now I'm gonna have to get in their with a scrubbing brush and toothbrush to get in all the nucks and crannies in the burber.

I am pretty annoyed, but what can I do? If I was the parent I would have immediatly offered to pay for the carpet to be cleaned and offered apologies just to acknowledge how sorry I was that this happened and and that they had been left to clean it up. I am also knarked off that there is no way I can use my daycare room tomorrow. I'm gonna have to use some almighty powerful cleaners not just to get the stains out but to kill the bacteria too and I have two 12 month olds who are crawling so wouldn't be sanitary to have them in their for at least a 24 hour period.

Nobodies fault but a little acknowledgement would be nice, but I need to alter my expectations of this parent and get over it. This is a one off and wasn't on purpose.

Did they at least apologize? I will be honest, I wouldn't expect the parent to pay to clean my carpet because it happened on my watch but I definitely would expect an apology for their child's behaviour!! To not even acknowledge it is quite rude IMO.

I don't expect them to pay either. I simply said that I would have offered to pay. It would have just been kind of them to show some caring towards the situation and that would have been one way that would have shown me that they were sorry for the predicament I was in.

BS, you tend to read my comments the wrong way lol :) I agree with you! Acknowledging what their child did and apologizing for it would have went a long ways. Maybe tomorrow they will surprise you with flowers or something?? That would be appreciated too!

My comment about me not expecting a parent to pay was just in response to another post that said the parent should pay. Was just offering my take on it :) If they offered that would be fantastic though!!

It's all out now so I can take a deep breath of relief. Also a parent just called to say their little guy was sick so it will be much easier having 2 kids in my living room instead of 3 tomorrow :)

Do you have a one piece sleeper in his size? Or can you have the parents send one. Put it on backwards, so the zipper is on the back. Just give the legs a spin at the ankle so the feet turn and still fit.

My friends 2.5yr old has removed her diaper a handful of times and they now do this when they are away from home to prevent any "surprises"

If the kid did it once he can do it again.

I keep them fully dressed !! Yikes !!! I'm so sorry !! That is disgusting !!! I'm grossed out ! I know it happens but I can't even imagine trying to scrub it all out !!!

This guy was fully dressed. He is 2 1/2 so old enough to get undressed with no trouble regardless of what I put him in. This has never happened with him before. My daughter did it when she was about 1 year in her crib. She thought it was the funniest thing ever, I still remember the silly grin and look of shear delight on her face lol I laugh now cause it was some 12 years ago but that was horrific beyond words. I forget how many hours I spent with a toothbrush and bucket full of Milton cleaning that poopy galore up. Fortunately prior to this job, in my 8th year now, I was a healthcare assistant in hospitals in the UK for a number of years. That made me build up an immunity against the yukiness that is poo. Nothing quite like bathing an adult who is covered head to toe thanks to dementia on a regular basis. Puke that's something I have a harder time with.

I'm greatful it came out of the carpet, just wish his mum would have at least responded in a way to acknowledge that this was unacceptable behaviour for a 2 1/2 year old who new that what he was doing was not okay.

Did you try some enzymatic type cleaner on the carpet? They have great ones from Nature's Miracle for pet accidents and I think that should work on human stuff too. :)

I know you said you got it out but just in case you still have any spotting.

I was curious whether the parents felt bad about it but figured that they would probably think that it was just something that came with the territory and that you should be fine with it.

I can understand wanting some sort of empathy. It is not pleasant to deal with messy poop issues - especially when it's not your own kid.:blink::)

I might look into that for the future Spixie but no I just used rug doctor stuff and a big hard scrubbing brush then ran the wet vac over with clean water to rinse and remove as much shampoo as possible. I am slowly learning to lower my expectations of others. There's nothing I can do about people like that and the only thing it results in is me getting worked up and annoyed at others.

I think it's a bit of both... To a certain extent it DOES come with the territory but on the other hand something like this is just SO GROSS how can you not want the parents to BEG for your forgiveness lol.

Someone mentioned the enzyme stuff. It's a lifesaver! My stinker of an exhusband helped develop one of them so we were always testing them out in our house before they came out on the market fully. They are nothing short of awesome!!! One we tested took a 5 year old red wine stain out of my carpet. Later on, I bought stuff called OUT!!! Got blood stains out of a pillow case. This is the same stuff I used when I had my kitten rehabilitation gig (as adorable as it sounds) and it worked miracles on stains and smells. And there was the time that my Labrador Retriever ate as much horse manure as he'd rolled in and then threw it up on the carpet. It was one of those 'maybe it's just easier to move' scenarios, but the cleaner worked (with some effort and multiple doses). I'm not entirely sure if that particular brand (which was my absolute favourite) is still available, but a couple other decent ones are. One is Oxy Orange Power (I think) and another is Nature's Miracle. Also a good shot is some of that oxy-clean powder. I used the generic brand of that and it's fantastic!!!

I am so, so, so sorry that happened to you....so gross! My little brother did that as a baby. We only have to casually mention the 'chocolate pudding photo' and he'll bend to our will every time :) Good luck with the clean up!

I use the Nature's Miracle as my spray and wash on laundry stains since most are from food or drool etc. and it seems to do well at getting them out. Often I spray it when it happens and then spray again when I put it in the actual washing machine. Often the stain is barely visible by the time laundry day rolls around.

thats horrible. Acually the kid is a bit too old to be doing this. I wonder if he has done this at home. Kids just don't go and do it suddenly. I would have said something to the parents about it.

I buy a product in the states called odoban and it works so good, and it really does kill smells of all sorts.
