"I had to return to work earlier than planned and my daughter (and first child) was only 8 months old. Carla was a ray of sunshine during the most difficult time in my life. She was very kind and warm and was able to adapt the daily routine to my baby's needs while keeping the older children happy. She sends daily emails as well as photographs. If you are lucky to have Carla as a provider, you will immediately see her more as a family member. She will love and care for your child as if he/she was her own. My daughter flourished from an immobile 8 month old baby to a bubbly, curious and active toddler. Thank you Carla"

"From the very first time I met Carla I knew she was THE one care provider I wanted for my son. He has been going to her home for a year and a half now and has been the happiest little guy. I cannot believe how much he has learned and developed.
Carla follows the Montessori learning philosophy and model. This means that not only does our son develop great knowledge and life skills every day, but he does so while also developing his independence and autonomy. He also gets plenty of time to play indoor and outdoor. Carla is extremely patient and kind. She always welcomes us with a happy smile and we always feel welcome in her lovely home. She is very flexible and understanding of changes in work schedules. She writes daily journal entries, providing great feedback on or son's day. She is great to communicate with. I would recommend Carla's home to all parents. You can be certain your child will be cared for in a loving, safe, fun and educational environment."

"Carla is amazing! I trust her with my children. She has cared for both my sons since they were 11 months old. They are now 3 and 18 months. She provides daily journal entries on their day. She sends me pictures of the boys throughout the day. Carla is excellent for communicating with. I am a shift worker and she is very accommodating so the boys have a personalized schedule with her that revolves around my work schedule.

She uses the Montessori learning model so my children are not only being cared for in a loving environment but they are also learning. Vocabulary, life skills, fine motor and gross motor skills. My boys come home and say things or do things that I certainly didn't teach them! Overall we are very impressed with Carla and her ability to care for our children."

"Our daughter started with Carla when she was 11 months old. Carla made the first days very easy for both us and Vika showing both patience and love for children. We were quite surprised how quickly and well Vika adapted at Carla’s, knowing that she didn’t always do very well with other people than parents. Carla’s days with children are very structured, parents can be sure that, unless extremely hot or cold, their kids will get 1 or 2 trips outside to get some fresh air and play outside which was very important for us.

Carla’s house is located between several nice parks and children playgrounds which provides variety of activities and kids don’t get bored doing the same thing every day. Often, they walk to the Greenboro library and kids have a chance to help Carla pick the books they want to be read to them, and they all love those trips.

Carla’s Montessori approach helps a lot in developing kids, helping them to learn new skills, setting and following the rules, learning how to communicate between themselves and with adults. Vika learned so much from Carla!

At Carla’s kids spend time looking at books (and being read to), singing songs, drawing, doing different crafts and playing independently and together. There is always a variety of activities.
We also love the fact that Carla keeps a journal for each child where she writes little highlights for each day, interesting facts, funny stories involving the child.

Carla is an amazing daycare provider and I, being a first time parent, often seek her opinion on my daughter’s behavior or tricky situations that involve kids. Vika considers Carla and her family her friends and talks about them and time spent at Carla's house all the time! "

"It is always difficult to leave your baby for the first time with someone new, but Carla immediately put us at ease, and when we saw how much our daughter loved her we knew we had made the right choice. Our daughter's development in her care overwhelmed us. Grace was given such an excellent foundation for learning and for that we will be forever grateful. Carla has the ability to make learning fun, and this is a lifelong tool for excellence. Carla's ability to nurture, teach and assist a child while still allowing for growth and individualism is incredible. She is consistently positive, happy and incredibly patient. We would be happy to talk to anyone considering Carla as a caregiver for their child."

"Carla was the primary caregiver at the daycare for my son while he was 12-20 months old. Carla helped both me and my son make a smooth transition to daycare. Using Montessori methods and materials, she helped my son learn many new things in a fun and nurturing environment. She kept a daily journal for me to keep up with his learning, activities and overall and how he was doing at daycare (something I always looked forward to reading and will keep forever). My son enjoyed Carla's company right away and I too trusted her immediately. Carla has exceptional patience and is very kind-hearted and fun -- it is easy to see why toddlers and kids love her!"

"Carla was our first daycare provider. We immediately trusted her with our 12-month old son when we saw how well she was taking care of another infant. Carla is both calm and energetic and our son quickly felt comfortable with her. With her Montessori training, she has great knowledge about early childhood development (and will provide great advice when solicited). Our son really enjoyed spending time with Carla and although he was a difficult eater at home, he seemed to enjoy all of her homemade cooking.

We especially appreciated the little journal that Carla used to jot down how our son was doing. It gave us a sense of how our son was spending his day and what he was learning. We would highly recommend Carla to any new parent looking for a safe and nurturing place for their children."

"Carla first started caring for my daughter at another institution in November 2011; prior to opening her home daycare. I was so impressed with Carla’s upbeat and dynamic personality, combined with her professional manner that I did not hesitate to place my toddler into her care when she opened her home daycare. Carla combines the benefits of a Montessori’s educational environment with the personalized attention of a home daycare.

One of the perks that I really appreciate is the daily journal Carla writes for each child in her care. The journal allows me to follow my daughter’s developmental progress as well as her ever-changing interests and activities. Carla also attaches my daughter’s painting and drawing artwork into the journal as well as documenting eating, sleeping, and potty-training habits.

Carla’s care and home environment is consistent with the Montessori approach to early childhood development. Focus is given to improving fine and gross motor skills, respect for other people and the use of good manners, respect for the environment and tidying one’s surroundings, language development, and increasing personal independence and self-sufficiency by way of improved eating skills, learning how to dress one’s self, taking shoes on/off, etc. Carla’s house offers a clean environment with child-sized furnishings that allow the children to independently choose the work (toy) they want to use and constructively focus their attention on it. The toys are both stimulating and educational and are in great condition. Carla rotates the toys depending on the children’s interests and abilities.

Other benefits and activities that I value about Carla’s daycare include a wide variety of nutritious homemade lunches and snacks, daily walks outside along various greenbelt paths (rain or shine), daily visits to playgrounds/splash pad (weather-permitting), weekly visits to the library where the children select books they are interested in reading, and participation in formal and informally-organized playgroups. Activities such as reading, drawing, painting, singing, and use of basic musical instruments regularly occur. She works on increasing vocabulary and word enunciation, and television is limited to educational purposes. Carla’s focus on behavioural activities include teaching good manners, learning how and when to wash hands, helping to set the table at lunch, putting toys away when they are finished, taking off shoes and putting them away when entering the house, and learning how to dress themselves.

In summary, Carla is a cheerful, energetic caregiver who provides an excellent role model for children as well as new parents like me. My daughter is very happy in Carla’s care and is eager to arrive at her house each morning. When I arrive to pick her up, my daughter is all smiles and giggles, and is always clean (or as clean as a toddler can be while at the playground), well-dressed for the weather, well-rested, well-fed, and has a fresh diaper on. What more could a parent ask for? :o)"

"Our daughter really benefited from the skills and language development, excellent home-cooked healthy meals and snacks, and good nap routine. She especially enjoyed trips to the library, summer adventures to the sprinkler park, and daily play with other friends.
