I met with this family / home daycare, dayhome and I find that:

"Excellent website and nice setup, however we had a poor experience with her. She guaranteed us a spot and with less than 2 weeks before I went back to work, she emailed us to say she no longer felt we were a good fit for her day home.

Her reasoning was that we were too much of "helicopter parents". She felt that way because we tried to contact her "too much". Our contact involved an email trying to arrange a transition period, making the payment and signing a contract. Our email also reminded her that she had not yet sent over the handbook she had previously said she would. She did not reply to our email, so two days later (3 weeks prior to my back to work date) we tried calling once per day. She did not return our calls, so 2 weeks before my back to work date my husband knocked on her door - on a Sunday afternoon - and no one answered although there were people clearly home. The following day she called to tell us she had red flags about us parents and she would discuss with her husband and then call us back. Two days later she sent an email saying she wasn't going to be our childcare provider.

Another issue I had is that she claimed my proposed transition period was ridiculous. When she offered us the spot, I had asked what the transition period typically would look like, and she told me it was whatever I was comfortable with. Without having any template to go off of, I proposed 2-3 days at 1-2 hours with the first one supervised by me and then 4 half days prior to full time. When she called back to tell us she had “red flags” about us, she said that the transition period was ridiculous and she thought one hour was enough. She also stated that I was not allowed to supervise the first hour long visit due to insurance reasons.

She left us in an extremely stressful situation. Sending your child to daycare and going back to work is stressful enough without having to deal with deceit.

I hope she communicates better and treats others with more integrity in the future."
