Childcare provider: Jo-Anne

I obtained services from this family / home daycare, dayhome and I find that:

"I would highly recommend Joanne for anyone looking for quality child care. I wanted somewhere as good as a centre with someone qualified and the set up like a daycare, but in a small environment with a one to one relationship with the caregiver, and I was not disappointed. We miss Joanne a lot, and I am really sad that we moved and had to change our daughters daycare provider. We never had to correct anything with Joanne, she always knew what to do. She was extremely attentive, and I had peace of mind every day knowing that our daughter was in her care. She learned a lot in that time, and is very well adjusted and polite, and very smart! Joanne was such a big part of this. She worked with us on using cloth diapers and was so accommodating. She began potty training early and Joanne was a huge help with that as well, she did better with potty training there than at home! And ate better too  I could tell how much she loved our daughter and treated her like her own. She loved going there every day and would excitedly say “Jojo!” when we would get in her driveway. She is experienced and has the perfect set up for the children and is always buying new toys for them and has such passion for what she does. We both cried when we had to say goodbye. I wish there were more providers like Joanne."

"I can thank JoAnne enough for her special care of my grandson. We were in a pinch and thanks to God's good grace she had an opening and took us in on a week to week basis until we knew what was happening. Eddie spent 6 wonderful months with Jo Anne and we hated to leave but he returned to his mothers care during the day. I would highly recommend Jo Anne. She cares for the children as if they were her own, has great creative art time that works for each age group. Every morning my grandson woke up saying 'Jo Jo' because he looked forward to their time together. She will be greatly missed"

"I would like to say that I would recommend Joanne's daycare to any parent that needs that little piece of mind when leaving your child for the first time. We can all say that it's hard leaving your child after maternity leave to go back to work. I had to leave my son at just the early age of 11 months old. Just how great is Joanne! He was still entrusted in her care until this past Sept. when he started school at the age of 4.5. Joanne's daycare had become a second home to him, giving him a family away from his own. Joanne's husband and daughter had also become a big part of his life over these last few years. Joanne's daughter has also on a regular basis become our sitter if we required a date night. Lucas just adores the family and the circle of friends that he's made over the years.

Joanne's environment is exceptional for proper care. The children are attended to 100% in a large open concept center that has been set up and child proofed. Joanne can keep eyes on all the kids at all times from both the bathroom and kitchen area.

Meals served are kid friendly and nutritious. Lots of healthy snacks and fruits are provided.

Joanne treats each child as her own, always offering that extra little morning cuddle and that extra little kiss good-bye at the end of each day. The kids always feel welcomed and loved. The parents feel at ease. As an ECE, she always has great advise and opinions when your child is not feeling well or out of sorts, she's very observant if your child is not acting like themselves. If your child is feeling ill she will sit and cuddle then until mommy and daddy arrive to take over.

Joanne's days are set up to provide the routine that all children require with set meal times, sleep times, play times and reading times. There is an extensive library provided for all stages of comprehension. The toys are updated on a regular basis to keep their interest in both educational and imaginary play. The children also do weekly artwork and little masterpieces.

The outdoor play area is an ideal, safe and fun place for the kids. There are numerous play structures for the kids to climb, slide and explore all with a safe ground area and a large covered canopy for those hotter days. The kids get outdoor play on a regular basis, weather permitting.

Joanne is also very reliable. Other than routine stat holidays and vacation time - I think she has been shut down for only 1 day that I can remember in the past four years. Holidays are always posted at the beginning of the year so that alternate arrangements can be made in advance.

If you choose Joanne as your child care provider - you are choosing great care, great comfort to your little one, piece of mind when you have to be apart from your child and a second family for your child. If you have to be away from your child - a family friendly environment is the next best thing! Also in the process I guarantee that you will develop a friendship too! We will truly miss Joanne and her family."

"I am very pleased to be writing this recommendation for Ms. Jo-Anne Wilcox. I came to Jo-Anne at a very desperate time, when my previously beloved daycare provider had retired, and my (then) 2.5 year old was not having success with the providers I tried afterwards. I had called Jo-Anne in tears, hoping that she was the one. Instantly, I felt comfortable. Her gentle, calming demeanor made me feel at ease. After discussing her overwhelming qualifications, I wanted to meet with her.

I took my son with me to meet Jo-Anne, and as he can sometimes be shy, I was delighted to see he seemed comfortable. The daycare is clean, bright, and was full of toys-a-plenty. Everything from books (including a reading nook), to puzzles, numbers and letters, blocks and cars (I also found out over time that Jo-Anne often switches up the toys, and spends her personal time shopping for new things to engage the children). Her basement is dedicated to the daycare, with a cute little kitchen and laundry area, as well as a bathroom with potties and so forth. She also has security camera's set-up so she can see who comes and goes. She truly cares about the children in her care.

She prepares healthy snacks and lunches for the children, and ensures they get lots of learning time, playtime (in her amazing backyard, secure and full of fun outdoor toys). She also takes care to ensure that each child gets personal attention, kind discipline (when needed, let's face it - kids need structure), and love. I must also say that Jo-Anne's family is wonderful. Her husband and daughter are around, and are also very kind to the children. I find them all to be a positive influence on my son. I must also note that, aside from her personal vacation, she almost never takes time off. You can count on her to be available!

As mom's, we all know how difficult it can be to leave our most precious angels in the care of someone else, but I can assure you, Jo-Anne is somebody you can trust with you child. From the daily notes she send home, to taking the time to talk with me personally at pick-up time, I feel a connection with Jo-Anne, and am truly saddened when I think that, because my son will be going to school in September, my time with her is coming to an end. I will never forget all she has done for me and my son, and how without her, I would not be able to go to work to support him. I am truly blessed to have found her, and I encourage any mommy reading this to meet with her to see for yourself.

There is so much more I can say, but I think I will close by simply saying that I love Jo-Anne and my son loves Jo-Anne. She has become more than my son's caregiver, she is my friend. I'll miss her."
