I would call to have them pick up as well. It is really none of my business what they do with their own time, but my policies state as well that any discharge goes home.
I would simply clal the parent and let them know that you've noticed a discharge coming from the childs ears and she is unconsolable. She needs to be picked up, will it be her or will be be arranging for one of her emergency contacts to do it.
If she comes back tomorrow with no solution and still has the issue I'd refuse her care.
