Acorns: I don't let children as young as 16 months climb on the play structure because I can't be right there with them while watching everyone. Usually be 18 months or so I let them go up the small structures depending on their personality (whether they are cautious or totally oblivious to risk). The younger ones have to play in the sand with toys until I allow them to climb.
And yes, Torontokids...I actually worry about this all the time....but I am a worrier! I have never had anything major happen, just the usual bumps and bruises, but i think about it all the time! I have my daycare as safe as possible and I am always on the look-out for anything that could pose a danger, I teach the kids safety rules, etc...but I always feel like anything is possible with kids! I have insurance too...but I know my career as a daycare provider would be over if anything serious should happen and it got in the news or something. Even though I am very careful, I do think about this sometimes! Plus, I think of how horrible I would feelBut, I also think that because I am a worrier, I probably take less risks than some...so the likelihood is less that one of my dck's will be seriously injured. Maybe you are in the same boat if it makes you feel any better!
