Yup, sounds about right. I have a couch under the big front window facing the road and also a big window in my front door. The bigger kids go to the couch to wave and if it's possible to pick them up, crying or not I hold the babies up at the door to wave goodbye. It is part of our routine that all kids wave good bye to everybody. (Even the mailman) Its not required, but a nice habit. "Bye, Johnny"s mommy!" "Bye, Annie's daddy!"

He comes to me, puts his hands up to be picked up so I pick him up and he stops crying. As soon as I put him down he is okay for 5 mins then goes back to crying.
