Yup that sounds like a mircomanager to me ... someone who is not happy unless they are criticizing others
I also consider my menu to be healthy and to EXCEED the Canada's Food Guide ... and that said I love meatloaf it is a comfort food and when made from scratch is perfectly 'healthy' option .... I do make sure to use lean ground beef or turkey and make sure to get it from the butcher where it is ground right there on sight where customers can SEE the process so I know it is REAL meat and not that pink slime filler crap that they sell in the tubed meat or supermarket meat that comes 'packaged' from outside the store cause Jamie Oliver did a story on that kind of ground meat and well I could never eat that stuff now
If she watched that show that could be what is making her consider 'meatloaf' as not a healthy choice as she might be assuming that ALL ground meat is made this way ... cause the chemicals they use to create that pink slime filler in cheap ground meat .... EWWW and definitely not healthy!
Canadian meat is not treated in the same way and ammonia is not used in the process.
Admittedly I do not trust where a lot of our food comes from anymore ~ it is so hard to know what is truly 'made in Canada' and therefore truly up to the standards we are suppose to have here because the labeling laws for what that means are so very LAX and misleading ... I know this is suppose to be true that we do not allow the pink slime processing here or that our cows are not allowed to be given growth hormones and other things .... however a lot of our 'processed foods' that contain ground beef are not made in Canada but shipped here in frozen trucks from lord knows where and than they are packaged and labelled in Canada and therefore allowed to bare a label that says 'manufactured in Canada' as long as a certain % of the process takes place here
No Frills has pink 'tubes of ground beef' that are sold both here and in the States sister stores ... so which country 'produces them and which countries 'rules' are overseeing those who do ... kwim?
Just look at the recent Alberta beef scare .... that was meat that was produced in another province than I live it but it affected my meat source here in Ontario not to mention it affected meat from BOTH sides of the border into bordering US states ... just scary and I can see why some parents just start not wanting to 'take a chance' with their food sources!
Children construct their own intelligence. The adult must provide activities and context, but most of all must be able to listen. Children need proof that adults believe in them. Their three great desires are to be listened to, to understand, and to demonstrate that they are exactly what we expect."
